Four New Projects for Spring and a Giveaway!

It's beautifully sunny here today in New Hampshire and I'm in the mood for a giveaway!!

But first, here's a round-up of four of my latest projects for spring:

1. Providence - You can find the pattern for Providence in the May/June 2019 issue of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting.  I made my quilt with a charm pack of gorgeous Flower Garden Gatherings fabric by Primitive Gatherings for Moda Fabrics and I love the colorful result!

2. Lucky Stars - The pattern for Lucky Stars is on page 34 of the May/June 2019 issue of Fons & Porter's Pre-Cut Patchwork.  This fun quilt is also a charm pack project — mine's made with Sweet Tea fabric by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics.

3. Rise and Shine - The pattern for this sweet stitching project is available in the May/June 2019 issue of Quiltmaker.  Make this fun little project with scraps from your stash and either bind it like I did or pop it in a 5" x 7" frame.

4. Cottage Blooms - Simple paper piecing makes easy work of the sweet cottages and tulips that make up this little wall hanging.  I used fabrics from the lovely Memoire à Paris collection by Lecien — perfect for spring!  The pattern for Cottage Blooms is now available for immediate download in my Etsy Shop.

And yes, patient reader, I did mention a giveaway!

Who's in the mood for a giveaway?!

Quilting Quickly magazine has become Fons & Porter's Pre-Cut Patchwork!  And I'm thrilled to have my new quilt, North Star Trail, in the pages of the inaugural issue!  The January/February 2019 issue is available now both in print and digitally.

North Star Trail is a fun and easy pattern made with a charm pack of 5" squares and a yard of background fabric.  I made my version using the whimsical Way Up North fabric collection by Jill Howarth for Riley Blake and I love the colorful end result!

To celebrate, I'm giving away a bundle of Way Up North fabric to two lucky quilters!  Each bundle contains 18 - 10" squares of fabric—one from each fabric in the collection.

Giveaway!

The Summer 2018 issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine is now available and it features 16 beautiful projects that are perfect for summer stitching!  And on page 74 you can find the pattern for my scrappy little quilt, My Favorite Things.

I named this quilt My Favorite Things because in incorporates some of my favorite blocks and fabric colors in one tidy little package.  My Favorite Things is a stash-friendly weekend project and a great skill-builder for a beginning quilter.

In the Meadow and Giveaway

Primitive Quilts and Projects is celebrating their 5th Anniversary with yet another beautiful installment of their one-of-a-kind magazine!  It's the Summer 2016 issue and it's now available both in stores and online through the PQP website.

And on page 46 of the magazine you'll find my In the Meadow table runner... 

When we first built our home in New Hampshire, we had a sunny patch of ground on the edge of our yard that I thought needed a bit of color.  So I bought a big container of wild flower seeds, roughed up the soil in the sunny patch, and shook out the seeds.  I'm not exactly a strong gardener, so I didn't hold out much hope for my $10 investment.  But to my surprise, the next year and every year since, that patch of land has yielded the most beautiful, colorful "wild" flowers!  We get daisies and black eyed Susans and lupine and some other yellow flower that I can't name because again, not a strong gardener, and of course, coneflowers.  And with the flowers come the dragonflies -- my inspiration for In the Meadow!

In the Meadow is the perfect quilt for a beginner and a fast project for a more advanced quilter.  The scrappy patchwork couldn't be simpler -- just raid your stash of greens and neutrals and start cutting.  The whipstitched wool appliqué is fast and easy and the stems are made by couching wool yarn.  To finish this quilt, I hand-quilted a cross hatch pattern on the background and I think it definitely adds to its timeworn appeal.

"Welcome Home" Quilt and Contest

It's here!  Finally, it's here!!

At long last, my Summer 2014 issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine has arrived and I'm so excited!  If you don't already subscribe to this magazine, you should definitely give it a chance.  Every issue of PQP is full of inspiring ideas and photographs.  It's a beautifully done magazine and it's one of my favorites.

But why, you may ask, am I sooo excited about this particular issue of PQP?!  It's because one of my projects, Welcome Home, is featured on page 56 of the magazine!  This is my first time having a pattern in PQP and I feel as giddy as a schoolgirl!  Tee-hee!

Welcome Home is a fun, scrappy project that I originally designed for my sister, Vicki.  The simple patchwork and super speedy wool appliqué  make it perfect for a beginner and fast enough to give as a gift.  This narrow quilt is meant to be hung above a doorway, but it would be darling anywhere in your home.

I made the quilt in three colorways for PQP because I wanted to give readers a sense of the possibilities (and because it's that much fun to make).
